Historical Notes
The gardens at Immanuel Hospital provided all of the vegetables for the patients at the hospital. The vegetables and fruit grown in the nearby orchard were canned by the Sisters and nurses at the hospital to be eaten by the patients. The gardens also provided all of the fresh flowers located throughout the entire hospital. The garden was located 1 block north of Ames Avenue, between 34th and 36th Street, on the southeast side of the campus.
