This two-and-a-half story building at 315 N. 14th Street, Lincoln, houses the Lincoln Hospital. Under the sign for Lincoln Hospital is another that reads: "Dr. Ramey, Surgeon." The brick and stone building has a turret and multiple porches. The grounds are full of tall, leafless trees.
According to Remember When ... Memories of Lincoln by James L. McKee (1998), this was originally a house built for John D. McFarland and completed in 1883 for a cost of $50,000. It had 10 fireplaces and a grand staircase. Before becoming a hospital, it housed other businesses. According to the Lincoln Nebraska Directory, 1908, the building housed the Ramethenian Restorium, a combined hospital and sanitarium, run by Dr. Walter N. Ramey and Dr. Samuel Metheny. However, by 1913 the name had changed to Lincoln Hospital run solely by Dr. Ramey per the Polk's City Directory of Lincoln. The building was torn down in 1929.
