About this collection

The High Plains Historical Society and Museum and the McCook Public Library worked in partnership to digitize photographic images from the historical society’s collection. These images document early growth of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad in McCook, Nebraska, and the surrounding area. The collection spans a time period from the early 1880s through the 1960s.

The photographs, graphics, texts, and other materials in this collection are provided by the High Plains Historical Society. Permission to reproduce these in any form, other than for personal individual use, must be obtained in writing from the High Plains Historical Society. Fees may apply. TIFF digital images are available.

Conditions for use of digital material

The right to use digital materials from High Plains Historical Society is on a one-time use only basis, with the following conditions:

  1. That proper credit is noted. Unless more specifically stated by the Society, credit must always minimally read: From the collections of the High Plains Historical Society. Credit statement must accompany each image.
  2. That proper citation is used. The purpose of citation is twofold: for proper credit, and to allow others to find and verify the information being cited. Complete citation includes, if applicable: author or photographer, title or image number, the URL, and the date.
  3. There is no misrepresentation of the images, recordings, text or other material so as to falsify the information they present.
  4. That the user assumes responsibility for all questions concerning copyright violation, photographic releases, invasion of privacy, slander, and/or libel resulting from the use of the texts, images, or recordings. Copyright for some material(s) ) in this collection may be held by others. The transmission or reproduction of these protected items, beyond that of fair use, requires the written permission of the copyright owner(s). Additionally, copyright on other historical materials appearing here may be difficult or impossible to determine; nevertheless, determinations of appropriate use are the responsibility of the user. 
  5. That no manipulation of any kind be made to the High Plains Historical Society digital image file(s) without written permission from High Plains Historical Society. Manipulation includes but is not limited to the following: contrast adjustments, rotation, inversion, sharpness, tonal adjustments, resolution, and removal or alteration, in any manner, or details inherent to the original image.

Note: The High Plains Historical Society images were made at 150 dpi as well as reduced in dimensions and will not make the best paper copies. Should you want a high quality and actual size, TIFF digital version of a photo it can be obtained from the High Plains Historical Society.

 

Any applicable fee required will be paid in advance to the High Plains Historical Society.
